Irene’s Aftermath (The River Crested)

Woke up this morning after going to bed at after 3:30AM last night.  When I went to bed it “looked” like the river had crested.  Apparently it didn’t crest until 8AM this morning.

This is a view of my friend's house (the blue one) zoomed in from over my fence

When I came outside this morning there was a marker on the road that said 10′.  However, the river apparently went over 14′ so I’m not sure why it’s marked 10′.  The marker pointed out the spot that the river made it to on the street.  A new record for my street as I’m sure it’s also the record for many others in the town.

The river is receding now and when it makes it a little more than halfway down the street they will turn on the pumps and the water will be out of the street.  That’s when my neighbors come home and the real cleanup begins.

The final flood mark on the street

This is where the final mark was placed that the water reached on our street. A new record.

Even though this is going to be a huge cleanup, most of the people on my street are used to this.  Those that chose to stay and could walk down the street came out to relax on my parent’s lawn today.  There were also 8 of us sitting around a campfire until 3:30AM last night.  We have some of the best neighbors.

Irene’s Aftermath Update 3

Here are two of the latest images of the street my parent’s live on.  I’m also going to include a shot of the side driveway of Beatties Mill and the Waterfalls of Little Falls.  Plus….a Video!

Irene’s Aftermath Update 2

Woke up this morning to the news that a house EXPLODED near my girlfriend’s place.  Now, that was interesting….

However the other pretty interesting thing was opening the door to the house at 10:49AM this morning and having a woman ask me if I was No Fear Man.  Awesome…I met someone that reads my blog!….Wait…someone actually read my blog?  Anyway, here is the 10:49AM photo of the street at my parent’s house.

As time went by I watched the news on the explosion.  Thankfully the family was not home.  Apparently a wall collapsed and took out a gas line.  KABOOM….the house is now a crater.

Went back outside at 3:37PM EST

I’m going to stop this update here but I will do two more updates today.  The next one will be for the Willowbrook Mall in Wayne, NJ.  It’s pretty much around the corner from my parent’s house.

BTW….Hello if you’re reading this again!

Irene’s Aftermath

I’m currently staying at my parent’s house.  Hurricane Irene just blew through here earlier today (it’s late at night Sunday night, technically Monday since it’s after Midnight).  I want to show you what the aftermath of Hurricane Irene is about to do to the street my parents live on.  The following is in Little Falls, NJ.

Keep in mind we are the last house on the street at the opposite end of the River.

Tonight’s update will include an image from 3:32PM EST today and one from just a little while ago.  I’ll make a new post tomorrow morning showing more.

The street at 3:32PM EST

As you can see in the above image the street was clear at 3:32PM EST on the day of Hurricane Irene.

Evacuation notice

Little Falls Rescue Squad and Fire Department notifying residents to evacuate immediately

At around 8PM the Little Falls Rescue Squad and Volunteer Fire Departments went around notifying residents that they should evacuate immediately.  This flood is predicted to be worse than the flood of 1984 which brought the water all the way up to our driveway.

River Rising

Half way down the street at approx 12:30AM

The final image shows the water is now approximately halfway up the street at around 12:30AM.

I will give updates at different times in the next few days.

Woooo Boy!

11 Days and it’s been NUTS!

Why have I been missing so long?  That’s simple.  I got all my ducks in a row with the state of New Jersey’s business division and got all the certificates I needed for my store.   Since then I’ve been plugging away at different suppliers to get great deals for Serendipity Deals.

I’m at around 419 products and counting…and I have a TON more to add. I’ve finally gotten a few more great name brands as well including GigglyGear and The Highland Mint! We are also carrying BCW Sports Collectible displays, video game stuff, lots of baby items, and tons of stuff for your kitchen.

We had a major snow storm here on Friday, I spent the entire day sending applications to suppliers, in fact, I spent all day Friday and all day Saturday sending out applications to suppliers who I think have some great products to sell and that I can get some great deals from. The total? I sent out 194 applications! Yup…and Monday morning my email box was FLOODED! Not to mention my phone ringing off the hook….that was pretty crazy too. The worst part? 194 applications….and about 80% of them will want me to fill out even more applications. I had just recently cleaned my desk….and now….ugh. I’ve had to buy black ink for my printer twice this week….good thing it’s a tax write off now…lol.

Well…I have work to do….see you all again soon.
